Chapter One: Introduction

1.1 Background of the Study
Cultural festivals are essential for preserving and promoting the heritage and traditions of communities. In Gombe Local Government Area, Gombe State, these festivals are not only a celebration of culture but also a platform for fostering social cohesion and economic growth. Youth engagement plays a pivotal role in the organization of these festivals, contributing to their vibrancy and sustainability. According to Adamu and Sani (2022), involving young people in planning and executing cultural festivals enhances creativity, ensures continuity, and fosters a sense of ownership. However, despite their potential, the role of youth in cultural festival organization in Gombe LGA has not been adequately studied, leaving a gap in understanding their contributions and the challenges they face.

1.2 Statement of the Problem
While youth are often involved in cultural festivals, their participation is sometimes limited to peripheral roles, which undermines their potential to contribute meaningfully.
